Dobson hires TBWA for mayor election

TBWA GGT Simons Palmer has been appointed to handle the advertising campaign for Frank Dobson’s bid to become mayor of London.

TBWA GGT Simons Palmer has been appointed to handle the advertising

campaign for Frank Dobson’s bid to become mayor of London.

The agency was recruited without a pitch after its services had been

offered by Trevor Beattie, who has close links with senior Labour Party

figures.

The budget will be kept secret but ads are expected to take up a large

slice of the pounds 420,000 spending limit for each mayoral

candidate.

Labour sources said that working for the official Labour candidate could

boost TBWA’s chances of landing the party’s campaign for the next

general election, for which it has been shortlisted. In the London

election it will be up against Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper which withdrew from

the Labour pitch to run Ken Livingstone’s mayoral campaign.
