EDITORIAL: Agencies will rein in Kaye in tight times

He's eccentric, temperamental, insufferable and sometimes downright

barking but adland would be a much duller place without Tony Kaye. Thank

goodness he reneged on his decision to quit directing commercials, for

he will be a formidable addition to the RSA Films stable. He will need

to be run on a tight rein, though.

Passionate and committed to the creative product as he is, he will find

little opportunity for over-indulgence. Few agencies in this climate

will be prepared to allow him an inch of film only for him to shoot a

mile.
