EDITORIAL: Too many cooks could spoil the board

The decision of Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO to increase its 70-strong board by another 17 people smacks of giving every kid a lollipop rather than risk them throwing their toys out of the pram. Boards of this size only have meaning if they serve a useful purpose. This might mean breaking them down into small groups to examine specific agency problems or acting as a conduit for grassroot opinions to be heard at the highest level.

What they shouldn't be is merely an excuse to get together once every three months to look at the showreel.
