Equinox wins media for Robbie Williams record assignment

LONDON - IE Music, the management company behind pop pin-up Robbie Williams, has appointed Equinox Communications to handle media planning and buying for the impending launch of his new album and single.

Despite the attentions of a number of record labels, reports suggest Williams, who has had hits including 'Angels' and 'Let Me Entertain You', plans to launch 'Escapology' independently through IE.

Equinox, which pitched against other agencies for the business, will develop a media strategy for the launch of 'Escapology' on November 18 and a single on December 9. One possibility it is said to be exploring is "blipverts" to create more standout in the busy pre-Christmas market.

'Escapology' has been billed as the former Take That star's biggest release to date and one which his backers hope will break him in the US. Williams was contracted to EMI but the deal expired after his last album, 'Swing When You're Winning'.

Kevin Morton, the managing director of Equinox, was unavailable for comment.
