Euro RSCG picks up £8m pan-European Del Monte business

Del Monte Foods, the canned fruit and soft drinks company, has

moved its £8 million pan-European creative account into Euro RSCG

Wnek Gosper.



Euro RSCG will be entrusted with the famous Man from Del Monte

advertising after deciding to move the account from Delaney Lund Knox

Warren & Partners.



Del Monte spends about £3 million in the UK but did not run TV ads

last year because of the merger between Del Monte and the Italian food

group Curio, owned by the president of Lazio Football Club, Sergio

Cragnotti.



Del Monte's director of European commercial operations, Stephen Thorpe,

was responsible for the switch. He was unavailable for comment but it is

thought Del Monte spoke to other agencies before appointing Euro

RSCG.



The appointment includes all of Del Monte's fruit and juice brands.



DLKW won the account when it was Delaney Fletcher Bozell in March

1999.



Initiative Media, which was selected at the same time to handle UK media

buying, will keep the account.
