Evans Hunt Scott MD departs for new Havas venture

- Jon Ingall, the managing director of Evans Hunt Scott, is leaving the agency after a ten-year tenure, to set up a new venture within the Havas Group.

Ingall's new role, though he remains in the Havas stable through the network's ownership of EHS, will not include any involvement with his old agency. Havas managers are cagey about the nature of the new venture, but Ingall's extensive experience makes it likely that he is to head up a new agency operation. Havas would issue no comment as Campaign went to press.

Andrew Harris, the chief executive of EHS, stressed that Ingall's departure was amicable and mutual, explaining: "He's been here for ten years and has become completely au fait with the culture of the agency, but he now wants a fresh challenge."

A subsequent reshuffle of EHS's management puts Linda Piggot in the managing director's role. Piggott joined the agency as an account manager in 1990 and has been the deputy managing director for three years.

Harris explained that Ingall's departure would kick off a general reshuffle: "This is the beginning of a new phase for us, and we will be reorganising the planning and account management sides. The agency is going through an evolution, rather than a revolution."

Ingall had been the managing director for five years, having replaced Andy Carolan in 1993. Formerly the client services director and then the deputy managing director, Ingall has been credited in part for turning the agency around after its sudden decline in the early nineties. EHS was Campaign Direct's Agency of the Year last year.

Harris said of Ingall: "He has brought enthusiasm and commitment to his role here, and has helped managed our growth over the last three years superbly."
