Farquhar and Ducker are the former Leagas Delaney creative chiefs who produced the BBC's award-winning "Perfect Day" commercial. They are being joined in the venture by Graham Collis, a founding partner of the former Horner Collis & Kirvan, and Ian De'Ath, previously the marketing director of the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim.
The agency, which is named after a bull terrier called Vinnie, begins life with a blank client list, although the founders say they are close to winning their first piece of business. "We're hitting the ground ambling rather than running," Farquhar said.
The start-up reunites Farquhar and Ducker with Collis, who hired them for the then Boase Massimi Pollitt in 1980. It ends a period of freelancing after their departure from Leagas Delaney last year.
The partners are dividing equity in the agency equally among them. The agency will be based at Pinewood studios, home of Wizzard, the production company De'Ath helped to found. The two operations hope to be able to cross-refer.
Farquhar said the plan was to keep the agency small and put together bespoke teams of freelance planners, creatives and other specialists.
