John Wringe, the Publicis client services director, is joining the

senior management team at Lansdown Conquest, raising speculation that

the Polycell DIY creative account will move with him.

Polycell, which joined the ICI stable last month, has a long association

with Wringe and is expected to follow him, although Richard Hytner, the

Publicis chief executive, said Publicis remained Polycell’s agency of

record.

As managing partner and head of account management, Wringe will

effectively operate as managing director of the pounds 65 million

billing, WPP-owned shop.

His focus will be on new business, although he will also take charge of

the agency’s Alfa Romeo and Columbia Tristar home video accounts, with

total billings of pounds 9 million.

Wringe announced last month that he would be leaving Publicis after just

15 months.

’Publicis is a terrific agency that will continue to do well but I felt

part of a machine and I wanted to go to a place where I believed I could

make more of a contribution,’ Wringe said this week.
