Express appoints group ad manager

Express Newspapers has promoted Jane Putley to group advertising manager.

She will take over the role vacated by Melanie Danks, who is spending a year on secondment as the publisher of OK! in the US.

Putley, previously the group head of the Daily and Sunday Express, will be responsible for all the group's titles. These are the Daily and Sunday Express, the Daily Star and the Daily Star Sunday.

Reporting to Stan Myerson, Express Newspapers' joint managing director, Putley will negotiate across the titles and orchestrate any group deals.

Putley, who has worked at Express Newspapers for the past 12 years, will take up her new role on 12 September.

Myerson said: "I know that Melanie will be hugely successful in the US on OK! and Jane Putley will continue to enhance the group sales effort at Express Newspapers."
