The account was previously handled by Zenith and Havas. It was a closed pitch between the two agencies.

The Publicis Groupe agency will work on the brand’s regional power brands which include Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whisky and Brugal Rum.

Zenith will take on the account from January next year and will focus on the UK, Spain, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Portugal and Cyprus.

Suzy Smith, marketing director for regional power brands at Edrington, said: "The appointment of a global media agency will help us improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our marketing communications as we continue to invest in our brands and leverage our global scale.

"This global strategic approach will put us in the best position to respond to the new multi-channel, multi-platform media world that we now enjoy."
