Ann Summers, the raunchy retailer, is seeing pitches from 15

agencies with a view to launching an advertising campaign by the end of

the year.

The contenders will be whittled down to a shortlist of five who will

pitch for the business in April. The retailer is planning to revamp its

UK outlets to challenge established high- street retailers and also has

plans to open stores in Japan and the US.

The review follows an interview last January in which Rebecca Cox, head

of brand marketing at Ann Summers, announced a brand overhaul. Cox said:

’We’re not a traditional company and we won’t be doing a traditional

campaign. We don’t want our creative to be stuck in the missionary

position.

’I think people are excited about working with someone like us. After

all, we’re pretty unique.’

Saatchi & Saatchi is believed to be among the agencies pitching. The

agency’s Australian office launched Ann Summers’ first ad campaign last

August.
