Fredrik Bond plans production start-up

The commercials director Fredrik Bond is leaving MJZ London to launch his own production company. He remains represented by MJZ in the US.

His partner in the as-yet-unnamed venture is the Gorgeous producer Helen Kenny. The pair worked together at the now defunct production company Harry Nash.

The Swedish-born Bond has directed a number of high-profile ads in the UK and the US. His reel includes ads for 3, Hummer and Smirnoff.

Bond and Kenny's new company is widely expected to add additional names to its roster, although Kenny denied any overtures had been made to UK-based directors.

Bond said: "I want to build a production company where there are no closed doors to any creative possibilities."

Last year, Bond directed the bulk of his work in the US, but he is understood to be keen to increase his UK output.

Bond joined MJZ controversially in 2002, when he reportedly defected from Harry Nash to MJZ for a six-figure signing fee. Such deals are uncommon in the UK.
