FT promotes Hughes to new global ad director role

LONDON - Ben Hughes has been appointed to the new role of worldwide advertising director at the Financial Times.

Hughes was previously the director responsible for the continental Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific regions. He takes on responsibility for all global advertising sales operations, both in print and online.

Hughes joined the FT in 1983 as sales and marketing director for France. He became advertisement director in 1991 and in 1993 was appointed advertising and marketing director for continental Europe.

Elsewhere at the FT, Zach Leonard has been promoted to the new role of managing director for the FT's EMEA region. He was formerly UK director and will be responsible for all commercial operations within the region.

Both Hughes and Leonard will continue to report to Olivier Fleurot, the chief executive of the FT Group.
