Do we feel sorry for a discarded lamp that's cast out on to the street to battle the howling wind and rain, while a shiny new one takes its place? This spot could have been lifted from the opening scene of a feature film and the director's ability to woo the viewer into feeling emotion for anything he chooses is intrinsic to its success. Yet another successful spot for the Ikea brand, thanks to brilliant casting, deft camera angles and music that presses all the right sentimental buttons.
