GALLERY 29: Alzheimer's Society - Changed His Mind

A moving and impactful commercial for the Alzheimer's Society. The ad is showing at special previews of the film Iris about the writer Iris Murdoch, who had Alzheimer's. The ad clearly and dramatically depicts the devastating progression of the disease using self-portraits painted by the artist William Utermohlen. Sadly, his descent into darkness is a result of the illness rather than any artistic sensibility. Director Patricia Murphy suggests optimism in the final scenes, however, using lighting and music.
