The Gap lures Clare Dobbie away from Mother

Clare Dobbie, who joined Mother in May to head the Boots account, is leaving the agency to take up the role of European marketing director at The Gap.

Mother hired Dobbie as a senior strategist as a replacement for Will Orr, who left to join WCRS as its managing director. As a former fcuk marketing director, Dobbie's appointment was regarded as a coup for the agency. Her role will now be filled internally.

Before joining Mother, Dobbie was the head of marketing at the Australian fashion retailer Country Road. She began her career in advertising, as a graduate trainee at D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and then joined Simons Palmer Denton Clemmow Johnson in an account management role.

Between 1995 and 1999, she was the advertising director at Nike UK, where she led the launch of Nike Town and appointed Wieden & Kennedy to the UK creative account.

Stef Calcraft, a partner at Mother, said: "It has been great to have Clare here and we are thrilled for her, it's a brilliant opportunity. I'm sure our paths will cross again in the future."
