new press campaign for Littlewoods Pools, created by DMB&B.



The celebrated England and Middlesbrough midfielder, who was left out of

the World Cup squad, is seen looking forward to the new football season

in the latest Littlewoods campaign.



Next to a picture of a rueful-looking Gascoigne is the headline: ’If you

haven’t played this summer, August 15th is the time to start again.’ The

ad refers to the start of the UK football season and to Gascoigne’s

absence from the World Cup.



Tony Hodge, the Littlewoods Pools commercial services manager, said:

’Littlewoods Pools have always been about football and we are constantly

looking to reinforce our football links.’



Littlewoods is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year with a free

prize draw to all its regular players with the chance to win one of 75

Rover 214is. The first six winners drawn will be able to get the car in

their favourite football team’s colours.



Barry Cook, the managing director of DMB&B, said: ’We went for Gazza

because although he doesn’t take himself too seriously, he is hugely

respected as a player. But most importantly for us is the fact that he

is about to start playing again when the season kicks off, and this is

exactly the message we wanted to get across to Pools players.’



During the UK ’close season’ for football, people can still play

Littlewoods Pools, using Australian matches.
