The station will be available on the national Digital One DAB radio platform, and kicks off at 6am on 29 February.

Global said the channel will play "even more hits and ‘more music variety’ from the 80s to the present day".

Jenni Falconer, Mark Wright and Jason Donovan are also on the line-up of presenters.

The addition of Heart extra to Global’s portfolio follows the launch of Capital XTRA, Smooth Extra, LBC and Radio X on D1.

Ashley Tabor, the founder and executive president at Global, said: "Heart extra will bring even more of the nation’s most popular commercial radio brand to audiences right across the UK on the D1 platform.

"Our strategy of brand extension and investment in building audiences on national DAB is very clear. We’re driving digital radio take up and more and more of our listeners are enjoying our radio stations on DAB than ever before."
