Granada in row with Unique Digital over ITV Football net deal

Football 2000 website to Unique Digital Marketing, which was

representing its client William Hill.



Unfortunately, Granada had not secured the contract to act as ITV

Football 2000’s sales house when Peter Birch, Granada Interactive’s

sales manager, did the deal.



ITV then chose to award the sales contract to TSMSi, resulting in a few

red faces at Granada Mediasales and one unhappy client.



Simon Anderson, the co-founder of Unique Digital Marketing, which

conducts marketing, planning and buying, was forced to retract the

pre-sold packages and is in the process of renegotiating with TSMSi.



As part of the deal, Unique Digital Marketing had created a microsite -

set to launch in June - and is considering taking legal action against

Granada Mediasales.



Observers claim the sales house assumed it would win the contract, as it

sold ads for the ITV Rugby site and handles the account for the ITV

Formula 1 website.



’I’ve got an invoice for the booking and signed confirmation from

Granada Mediasales,’ said Anderson.



’The client was incredibly fed up. You might expect this kind of service

from a two-bit online sales house but not from a respected name like

Granada.’
