Grey has strengthened its senior account handling team with the

appointment of Wendy Proctor to work on SmithKline Beecham.

Proctor was previously a group account director at Leagas Shafron Davis

and joins initially to oversee Ribena as part of a broader portfolio of

brands. The role consolidates her previous experience working on food

and drink accounts, which have included Colman’s of Norwich, Cadbury and

General Foods.

Proctor began her career as a graduate trainee at Ted Bates before

moving to Young & Rubicam as an account manager, where she was involved

with brands such as Procter & Gamble and Air Canada. She later went on

to CME KHBB to take the dual role of new-business director and client

services director, with responsibility for accounts including Pernod and

Bristol Myers.

She joined Leagas Shafron in 1995 to oversee the pounds 10 million Sun

Alliance account, which moved out of the agency last year. Her work for

the insurance giant included the controversial ’global warming’

commercial, which attracted 196 complaints to the Independent Television

Commission in 1995.

Barry Cox, Grey’s executive director, said: ’I have known Wendy for some

time and have always been keen to find the right excuse to hire her. I

am delighted that she has accepted the challenge we have offered her.’
