- Rick Hadala has quit as chairman and chief executive officer of Ammirati Puris Lintas in North America just seven months after joining from the McKinsey management consultancy.

His departure follows what have been described as "irreconcilable differences" with the global agency network's chief executive, Martin Puris.

Hadala had a stormy period at the Interpublic-owned network's flagship New York office, where he also held the chairman and chief executive posts. Only two months after he joined, the co-creative directors of the New York agency, Mark Johnson and Tom Nelson, left as part of a wider shake-up demanded by Hadala.

Hadala promoted Rob Feakins and Roger Bentley, both of whom had been with the agency for less than a year, to replace Johnson and Nelson, but the shake-up is said to have backfired, with insiders reported as saying that Hadala failed to fit in with the agency culture.

He will be replaced in New York by James Allman, APL's multinational account director on Unilever, but no decision has yet been taken as to what will happen to Hadala's North American role.

Allman's responsibilities on Unilever will be taken over by Terry Rosenquist, president for APL's multinational clients.
