– handbag.com is looking to secure its share of the crowded women's portal market with the launch of a £1.5 million advertising campaign.

The campaign, which breaks today, will run across national print and radio. In addition to a focus on established elements of the portal, the campaign aims to capitalise on its panel of experts employed to take part in discussion groups and answer emails online. The portal claims to be the only site in its sector to offer this service.

Sheila Sang, editorial director of handbag.com commented: "We now have experts on hand in all key channels who are fully accessible to our users. Our content is comprehensive, in-depth and tightly focussed for UK women online."

The portal claims to have a 30 per cent awareness amongst women internet users, with visitors spending an average of 10 minutes online. The five most popular channels are reported to be fashion, healthy and beauty, shopping, relationships and fitness and sport.
