Saatchi and Saatchi compares the waste traps under most sinks with

a burping, smelly baby in a new series of trade press ads that introduce

a plumbing system which has been developed by Hepworth Building

Products.

’It gurgles, regurgitates and smells. Perhaps it needs changing?’ one

advertisement for the new HepvO waste trap system enquires archly.

Another sketches out a scene where the only thing a homecoming husband

can smell in his house is ’the kitchen stink’.

Saatchis’ account director for Hepworth, Scott Paton, said: ’Plumbers

are quite set in their ways. This reassessment phase is designed to make

them stop and think, ’Yes, water traps do have their problems’.’

Paton added that the next phase, which discloses more details about the

HepvO system, would break in June. It will be followed by additional

advertising which will break in August, that backs up claims made in the

earlier ads by explaining the rigorous testing procedure the system has

gone through.

Art directed by Kevin Jones and written by Paul Domenet at Saatchis, the

ads were photographed by Steve Cavalier. Media is handled by Carat

Business.

The ads, which break this month, follow cartoon teasers which ran in

April.
