Holland & Barrett's customer title defies health market

LONDON - River Publishing has claimed that its Healthy magazine is bucking the sector trend, prompting a 50,000 reprint of the title.

The company claims that the September/October issue of Healthy, which was launched in 1999 as a paid-for title for the health store group Holland & Barrett, is forecast to sell out three weeks ahead of schedule, making the current issue the biggest selling edition to date.

Phil Geary, marketing director of Holland & Barrett, said: "The latest sales indicate that the title continues to appeal to a growing audience of people looking for expert advice and information on alternative health and well-being. Healthy's success lies in its ability to present comprehensive information in an impactful and accessible way, and as such Healthy offers a level of value to the reader that is rarely experienced in any magazine."

According to the recent ABCs, Healthy recorded a circulation of 224,166 for the first six months of the year. This was a rise of 9.9% year on year.
