Homechoice launches African film channel

LONDON - Homechoice, the digital home network, is to bulk up its digital TV offering with the addition of an African movie channel.

The African Movie Channel will feature new and recent releases from the major African film production houses.

The films available, available on-demand, will offer viewers a mix of classic films such as 'Violated', 'Osofia in London' and 'Madam Dearest' and new and recent releases staring contemporary African actors.

Jonathan Sykes, managing director of content strategy at Homechoice, said: "This is yet another example of how Homechoice continues to listen to its customers and we firmly believe that the African Movie Channel will be a welcome addition to the line-up for one our key customer groups."

Lola Onigbogi, a spokesman for the African Movie Channel, said: "Demand for both classic and new release African movies is very high in the UK, where there is a large African population."
