TBWA GGT Simons Palmer has lured Johnny Hornby, currently head of

CDP’s Honda account, to run its flagship Nissan business as a senior

board account director.

Hornby, a Campaign ’Face to Watch’ in 1995, will also be the client

services director for the agency.

’Unquestionably, TBWA is the most exciting agency in town,’ Hornby

said.

’It’s huge, with an amazing client list and good creative work, but it’s

also in its infancy so there is a unique opportunity to help define its

culture.’

Hornby, 31, preferred not to comment on speculation that he had turned

down an offer of joint managing director at CDP. He is expected to leave

the company in the next two months.

The appointment is thought to herald the creation of a new group

structure at TBWA which will accommodate its wide range of high-profile

account directors.

Neil Christie, managing director at TBWA, said: ’Why on earth do we want

another very senior account man? Because Johnny has exactly what Paul

(Bainsfair) and I are looking for - talent allied to burning

ambition.’

He added: ’His experience with a large integrated car business makes him

perfect for the Nissan account.’

Christie, promoted to managing director four months ago, will be

relieved of his direct responsibility for the Nissan account to focus on

’wider aspects of running the agency’.
