Hawkeye Communications, the global marketing services network set up by

the former chairman and chief executive of Rapp Collins Worldwide,

Steven Dapper, has acquired FFwd, one of the last remaining UK

independent direct marketing agencies.





Mustoe Merriman Herring Levy and Optimedia have picked up the pounds 1

million launch account of freeloader.com, the free website for video

games. Freeloader.com is being launched by Pure Entertainment, a games

developer for both the PC and console markets.





Paul Chard is joining MediaCom TMB to head its new sponsorship and

programming division which will launch in the early summer. Chard is

vice-president of marketing for Viacom-owned channel Show Time. At

Mediacom he will be a board director and work with the agency’s in-house

creative resource, Talking Loud & Clear. A starting date has not yet

been agreed.



Nicky Barnes, the former head of television at Mustoe Merriman Herring

Levy, has joined Union Commercials as a producer.





Crispin Reece, the director of ITV series and dramas including The

Grimleys and London’s Burning, is joining Will van der Vlugt Film

Productions as a commercials director.





The COI has knocked D’Arcy off the shortlist for its crime prevention

task. J. Walter Thompson and Rainey Kelley Campbell Roalfe/Y&R will now

battle for the business.





IPC tx, the television subsidiary of IPC Magazines, has appointed Inside

Soap’s editor-in-chief, Jonathan Bowman, to the new role of special

projects editor. Bowman will concentrate on new-media developments.





The Independent and The Independent on Sunday are launching their third

TV campaign this year through Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper. The ad, which

launches this week, promotes a four-part internet supplement ’This is

the Internet’.





The Mill is launching an e-commerce facility to allow clients and

agencies to access and download their work from a website. It also plans

to make the service available to the Broadcast Advertising Clearance

Centre to help agencies gain faster approval for commercials.





The health and beauty portal, Vitago, has held a media pitch for its UK

account and is believed to have appointed Zenith Media. MediaVest and

Carat also pitched for the business.





Nissan is planning to move its European headquarters from the

Netherlands to Paris, the home of its new parent, Renault, fuelling

speculation that the two manufacturers are to reorganise their marketing

operations.





Sue Ryder, the cancer support charity, is looking for an advertising

agency to handle its pounds 500,000 account. The charity has already

approached several London agencies about the account.





Gruner & Jahr is delaying the launch of its new women’s title, Project

Florence. The magazine was scheduled to launch in April but has been

postponed until May.





IMP Edinburgh has been awarded the below-the-line account for the

alcohol brand, After Shock. The agency will now handle all on-trade

promotional work for the Jim Beam-owned brand.
