Nick Kerr, a managing partner at TBWA GGT Simons Palmer, has
resigned. Kerr, who handled the agency’s npower, Virgin Megastore and
Oasis accounts, came to TBWA via the agency’s merger with GGT, where he
was the deputy chairman.
BMP DDB and BMP Solutions in Media have won the pounds 2 million Nikon
business after a three-way pitch against the incumbent Conquest and
Spirit. Nikon claims to be the fastest-growing digital camera brand,
declaring a 40 per cent rise in sales last year.
Jan Pester, the former planning director at FCB, has joined Grey as the
head of planning. She was appointed by the agency’s managing partner and
executive planning director Clare Rossi.
Honda has drawn up a shortlist of agencies to pitch for its southern
Europe advertising account covering France, Spain and Italy. The
incumbent, Client First, will pitch against Grey Paris, The Leith Agency
and an undeclared fourth agency.
Lowe Lintas & Partners has won the estimated pounds 6 million
advertising account for the online recruitment consultant
Coconutstreet.com. It is understood to have pitched against
McCann-Erickson and M&C Saatchi to win the business.
Zed Media, the joint venture between Zenith Media and DP&A, has won the
media planning and buying for Sage from WWAV Media. Rapier recently won
the creative account from WWAV Rapp Collins after a four-way pitch.
MediaCom TMB has been appointed to handle the media planning and buying
for the online travel company HolidayExpert.com. The new company, which
was founded by William Burton, a former sales director of Thomson
Holidays, plans to spend pounds 5 million on advertising this year.
Banc is expanding to include corporate identity and design and has
appointed David Palmer as the director of design. Palmer has worked at
Bartle Bogle Hegarty’s subsidiary Tango Design. where he was responsible
for Levi’s, RayBan and Coca-Cola.
Flutter.com, a new website that encourages cyber punters to challenge
one another with online bets, has awarded its pounds 2.5 million account
to Hooper Galton in preparation for a UK launch.
Conquest has picked up the pounds 1 million launch campaign for e-start,
a company that helps develop internet-based ideas into going concerns.
Media will be handled by MindShare for the coming national press
campaign, which will focus on the services offered by e-start.
A Cadbury-Schweppes franchise that sells cream cakes in British
supermarkets has hired Team Saatchi to produce an ad campaign. Signature
Foods, which won the licence to make Cadbury-branded cakes last July,
has until now co-ordinated its brand strategy through Cadbury’s PR
specialists Roland PR, a division of Saatchi & Saatchi.
Ogilvy & Mather has made seven new board appointments as it moves to
rejuvenate the board. The appointees come from all levels of the agency.
They include the head of traffic Terry Iddenden and Vicky Maguire, a
Channel 5 and Buena Vista have formed an alliance to promote the film
Scream 3. Channel 5’s website is to become the official host for Scream
3, which will lead to Channel 5 branding appearing across all of the
film’s trailers on terrestrial and satellite TV channels as well as
press, outdoor and internet advertising. In return Scream 3 will be the
sponsor of Channel 5’s Fright weekend on 29/30 April.
Team Saatchi has beaten Bartle Bogle Hegarty to the pounds 3 million
account of Europebynet.com, a website selling handcrafted Italian
furniture. The site will launch in the UK later this year.
