Singapore Airlines has appointed WPP-owned Lansdown Conquest to handle its pounds 2 million UK business. The account, held in Singapore by Batey Advertising, in which WPP has a 30 per cent stake, was previously held by Court Burkitt & Company in the UK.

The Department of Health is understood to have reduced the shortlist of

agencies for the pounds 5 million nurses recruitment pitch to two -

D’Arcy and Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.

Gavin Caldwell, a chief executive of the regional press sales house, the

Word, has announced that he will step down in the new year. Commenting

on his departure, Caldwell said: ’I feel the time is right to move on

and explore other opportunities’
