St Luke's head of art, Mark Howard, is quitting to start up a freelance agency with Jo Tanner, the former Partners BDDH copywriter and commercials director.

Called Us, the agency will offer quick turnaround creative work for a number of other agencies. The launch of Us comes only six months after Howard joined St Luke's from HHCL & Partners.

Howard said that he was prompted by Tanner leaving BDDH last month to concentrate on directing: 'We worked together at HHCL and got on brilliantly. This was an opportunity too good to be missed.'

Tanner left BDDH two weeks ago to direct for Arden Sutherland-Dodd. He has been directing music videos and ads for the past year, including a pop promo for Da Slammin' Phrogz and a video for the rapper Glamma Kid.

'Us will enable a lean team to concentrate purely on ideas,' Tanner said.

'Clients have to react to market forces overnight, and there's a gap in the market for creative agencies that can do the same.'
