Hudson signs ups to Another Film Company as director

Steve Hudson, the creative behind classic ads including One2One's

"Kate & Elvis", Audi's "yuppie" and Levi's "mermaid" is embarking on a

directing career through Another Film Company.

Hudson was most recently the creative board director at Abbott Mead

Vickers BBDO where he created BT's "Karen" and directed his first ad,

"Rebecca" for COI Communications' anti-smoking campaign. Both ads won a

gold at the British Television Advertising Awards.

However, the former Campaign "Face to Watch" left the agency with his

partner, Victoria Fallon, in March this year to form a start-up called

Treatment.

The Bartle Bogle Hegarty creative team, Andy Smart and Roger Beckett,

are also part of Treatment, which is a creative consultancy.

Backed by Joy Films, it was shortlisted for the £30 million Opodo

account and is pitching for an unnamed client.

Hudson said: "There's been a debate about the merits of so-called

'crossovers'. Some will make it, some won't. But look at London's top

ten directors - more than half are former creatives."

He added: "I'm trained in writing ideas. Now it's just a case of jumping

to the other side of the camera."

Hudson joins his fellow ex-creatives Tom Carty, Vince Squibb, Matt Ryan,

Kevin Thomas and Simon Green, all of whom have launched their directing

careers recently.
