Tarpey is currently the head of design at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.
He will join CP&B in May as the integrated design director. In the new role, Tarpey will lead the development of the agency’s existing branding, user-experience and product design capabilities.
Although assuming a new position, Tarpey effectively replaces Simon Wakeman, the head of design who left in March to take the same role at Karmarama.
Before joining AMV BBDO in 2012 ago, Tarpey spent 11 years at Fallon London, where he oversaw design. He initially joined as the lead designer at Duffy, the design agency that was part of Fallon.
Tarpey will report to Dave Buonaguidi, the chief creative officer at CP&B London, who joined in June last year.
"Integrated design thinking informs innovation, shapes creative confidence and can lead to surprisingly brilliant solutions to clients’ business challenges," Buonaguidi said. "Hugh’s design experience and mindset are going to be more and more central to the work we’re producing and will be producing tomorrow."
