Hugh Taylor aims to bolster Promotional Campaigns’ profile

WPP’s international promotional marketing network, Promotional Campaigns Group, is stepping up its UK and international presence with the appointment of a new chief executive, Hugh Taylor.

WPP’s international promotional marketing network, Promotional

Campaigns Group, is stepping up its UK and international presence with

the appointment of a new chief executive, Hugh Taylor.

Taylor comes from Bates Dorland’s sales promotion agency, One Four One,

where he was client services director. He quit in December and arrived

at Promotional Campaigns this week. He replaces Duncan Taylor, who has

been moved to the post of executive creative director following a year

in the chief executive’s chair.

Hugh Taylor’s brief is to build the international profile of the

group.

WPP’s major below-the-line interest is the global network, OgilvyOne,

but the other main WPP advertising agency network, J. Walter Thompson,

has no dedicated affiliate. Promotional Campaigns shares several clients

with JWT, including Kellogg’s and P&O Stena Line.

Taylor claimed: ’Promotional Campaigns is destined to be the

below-the-line network for the whole of the WPP Group.

’I will be looking at relationships that Promotional Campaigns has with

other WPP agencies and putting more weight behind the strategic side of

marketing. We will also be expanding our traditional sales promotion

remit to cover direct marketing as well, as it is critical for agencies

to offer both.’

Before joining One Four One, Taylor spent a period at Claydon Heeley and

has headed account groups for clients such as British Airways, Coca-Cola

and Halifax.

John Zweig, the chief executive of WPP Specialist Communications, said:

’Hugh will bring the energy and insight that will help Promotional

Campaigns become a leading marketing services resource in its own

right.’
