WPP’s international promotional marketing network, Promotional
Campaigns Group, is stepping up its UK and international presence with
the appointment of a new chief executive, Hugh Taylor.
Taylor comes from Bates Dorland’s sales promotion agency, One Four One,
where he was client services director. He quit in December and arrived
at Promotional Campaigns this week. He replaces Duncan Taylor, who has
been moved to the post of executive creative director following a year
in the chief executive’s chair.
Hugh Taylor’s brief is to build the international profile of the
WPP’s major below-the-line interest is the global network, OgilvyOne,
but the other main WPP advertising agency network, J. Walter Thompson,
has no dedicated affiliate. Promotional Campaigns shares several clients
with JWT, including Kellogg’s and P&O Stena Line.
Taylor claimed: ’Promotional Campaigns is destined to be the
below-the-line network for the whole of the WPP Group.
’I will be looking at relationships that Promotional Campaigns has with
other WPP agencies and putting more weight behind the strategic side of
marketing. We will also be expanding our traditional sales promotion
remit to cover direct marketing as well, as it is critical for agencies
to offer both.’
Before joining One Four One, Taylor spent a period at Claydon Heeley and
has headed account groups for clients such as British Airways, Coca-Cola
John Zweig, the chief executive of WPP Specialist Communications, said:
