Independent rejigs display sales team

The Independent has restructured its display advertising team, bringing in Mandy McLean as the head of display sales.

Simon Barnes, the recently appointed commercial director at The Independent, has made the changes in a bid to improve service levels for advertisers and agencies.

McLean, who will report to the ad director, Simon Cooke, joins The Independent from ISM Direct, an inserts company where she was a founding partner.

She has more than 20 years' media experience at Associated Newspapers, Mirror Group and agencies including WWAV Rapp Collins and The Media Shop.

Barnes has also created two new roles. Jo Barratt is promoted to sales controller for newspapers, while Mark Becarevic is promoted to sales controller for magazines. Both will take publishing responsibility for their brands.

Barnes said: "Each member of the display sales team will have the freedom to present a broad overview of our entire roster of commercial opportunities to clients and agencies, yet continue to offer a dedicated focus on their specific area of expertise."

Digital marketing executives oversee the online marketing strategy for their organisation. They plan and execute digital (including email) marketing campaigns and design, maintain and supply content for the organisation's website(s).
