Mullen's senior management, including founder and chief executive officer Jim Mullen, will remain with the agency and will report to Frank Lowe, chairman of the IPG-owned Lowe Group.

Mullen is the largest independent shop in New England with billings of $254 million and revenues of $38 million last year. Its clients include LL Bean, the US's largest mail order firm, General Motors and Swiss Army Brands.

Following the sale of Mullen to the Lowe Group, the top independent agency title in New England transfers to Ingalls, the region's 4th-largest agency with billings of $141 million and revenues of $17 million last year.
