- Octagon, the sports marketing arm of the Interpublic Group, has flatly denied that either it or its parent company are the 'mystery suitor' bidding against Rupert Murdoch for control of Manchester United Football Club.
The company also confirmed that neither it nor IPG have at any time made a bid for Manchester United. It stated that it was not in talks with either the club or its bankers, and had no intention of making a bid.
The denial came after a report in the London Evening Standard linking Octagon and its board director, Frank Lowe, to the football club. Lowe is a renowned Manchester United fan.
