- Octagon, the Interpublic Group-owned sports marketing firm, is to expand into Latin America through a partnership with the Brazilian sports and entertainment marketing company, Koch Tavares.
The company, which will be rebranded Octagon Koch Tavares, was founded in 1972 by former Davis Cup player, Luis Felipe Tavares. It began by promoting international tennis in Brazil and now organises a wide variety of sporting and entertainment events.
Koch Tavares has a staff of more than 100 and names MasterCard, McDonald's, Whirlpool and Banco de Brasil among its clients.
According to Frank Lowe, chairman and chief executive officer of Octagon, "Brazil is a passionate sports nation and a country we needed to be in to be truly international."
