Carolyn Fairbairn, director of group development and strategy at ITV, is to leave the company at Easter, following a restructure of the strategy team in which Simon Pitts is promoted to the new role of director of strategy and transformation.

The announcement follows the departure of six senior commercial executives, including group commercial director Gary Digby, revealed by Campaign earlier this week.

In a statement ITV said Fairbairn, who has been at the broadcaster for four years and has strategic responsibility for YouView and platform development, has been fully involved in the restructure and has decided to leave the company.

Following the changes Simon Pitts, currently controller of strategy of ITV, will be promoted to the management board as director of strategy and transformation and will report to chief executive Adam Crozier.

Pitts already has responsibility for managing the company’s five-year transformation plan, outlined by Crozier in August.

Crozier said: "We are fully focused on delivering our Transformation Plan to enable us to become a global, multi-platform media company with a revenue base that balances both the UK and international markets, free and pay TV as well as linear and non-linear viewing.

"Simon is already managing the team which has been created to help ensure that we deliver our strategy. I would like to thank Carolyn for all that she has done and in particular the huge efforts she has made in developing our platform strategy."
