Jarvis out as Carat hands media negotiation task to Platt

LONDON - Steve Platt, the ex-Carlton TV sales managing director, is replacing Mark Jarvis as Carat's head of media negotiation.

Jarvis is leaving Carat to join the gaming company Gizmondo, a Carat client. Jarvis will be working on secondment, although few expect him to return.

Platt is taking on an expanded role. As well as heading Carat's buying in the UK, which includes negotiation for Vizeum, he becomes the head of media trading across Aegis Media Europe. In his new role, Platt will be responsible for more than £750m of media negotiation in the UK.

The appointment of Platt puts an end to months of speculation about Jarvis' future, following the departure of many of Carat's old guard. The agency's managing director, Colin Mills, and the marketing director, Jenny Biggam, have both left the agency this year.
