The production company Joy Films has signed up two directors to increase its roster to four. Tom Merilion, formerly at RSA, and James Marsh, the documentary film-maker, will work alongside the founder director, Medhi Norowzian, and Pete Salmi at the company.
Merilion has recently completed four spots for Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO's Sainsbury's campaign, starring the celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. Other recent work includes a Kellogg's Fruit & Fibre spot. Merilion also directed a charity film for Compassionate Friends through BDH TBWA.
Marsh won acclaim for his documentary Wisconsin Death Trip, which was shown at the National Film Theatre and on the BBC.
Joy's managing director, Jeremy Barnes, said: 'Tom can get great performances from actors and James has a fresh visual sense that will be very appropriate for commercials.'
