JWT Europe hires former Icon UK boss to run digital brand

– J. Walter Thompson Europe has hired David King, the former managing director of Icon Medialab UK, to run its newly launched digital unit, digital@JWT.

– J. Walter Thompson Europe has hired David King, the former managing director of Icon Medialab UK, to run its newly launched digital unit, digital@JWT.

King spent two years at Icon Medialab in London. Prior to that he was founder and managing director of DDB Interactive in the US.

Michael Madel, president and chief executive of JWT Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: "Digital is becoming increasingly important area in the communications mix and I'm extremely happy to have David as a partner to make us a strong player in this category."

King's appointment closely follows that of Tim Hayward, the former HHCL & Partners head of interactive, to head up JWT London's digital operation.

King said: "The biggest challenge facing any player in the digital space right now is servicing client needs across a global network. JWT is perfectly positioned in that regard and we intend to build the European infrastructure to do just that."
