JWT Germany beats two to win global ad business for Bosch

J. Walter Thompson Germany has won the global advertising account for the engineering conglomerate and white-goods manufacturer Bosch after a competitive pitch.

The business will be run jointly out of the network's Frankfurt and Shanghai offices after JWT saw off competition from two other undisclosed agencies.

Bosch, which has headquarters in Stuttgart, is one of the country's largest manufacturers of electrical products, producing a variety of goods ranging from power tools to fridge freezers and washing machines.

JWT will be charged with helping Bosch to increase sales as it competes against the likes of Zanussi and Hygena, among others.

The appointment will not affect Bosch's relationship with Jung von Matt or its other German agencies.

It is not known how JWT's win will impact on the UK market, where the majority of the brand's communications are below the line. Creative is handled in-house.

Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy won the UK above-the-line account in a pitch in 2000.
