Katz International scoops Xfm radio’s first sales contract

Xfm, the London radio station due to launch this autumn, has given its sales contract to Katz International.

Xfm, the London radio station due to launch this autumn, has given

its sales contract to Katz International.

The move follows speculation that the station, which picked up the last

London licence in January, would award its sales to CLT, which owns 15

per cent of Xfm.

The Xfm deal is an additional boost to Katz, which may also be in line

to pick up extra GWR business following the Capital/Virgin deal

(Campaign, 9 May).

A dedicated team of three or four people will work on the Xfm account

within Katz, overseen by the station’s director of sales, Martin

Bull.

Xfm’s sponsorship, promotion and music sales will be handled in-house by

Frank Moss. The station has already signed Miller Draft in a pounds

100,000 deal to sponsor its weekly live session.

Chris Parry, Xfm’s managing director, said: ’Katz didn’t have a London

station. Having a solus position London-wide gives us a strong position

in a sales house. The people at Katz are very determined and very

flexible.’
