Kenzo gets the internet tapping its toes with frenetic Spike Jonze dance ad

Perfume brand Kenzo has released an ad starring actress Margaret Qualley as a wedding guest who breaks out into a wild and unrestrained dance around the hotel.

Directed by Spike Jonze – whose films include Being John Malkovich, Where the Wild Things Are and Her – the four minute film nods to Jonze's famous music video for Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of choice", in which Christopher Walken spontaneously busts a groove in a similar manner.

The ad for new fragrance Kenzo World is soundtracked by original track "Mutant brain" by Sam Spiegel & Ape Drums feat. Assassin. It has been warmly received online, racking up 200,000 views since being posted on Thursday.

It has won a highly enthusiastic response on Twitter, with acclaim for Qualley's performance, the direction, sense of liberation and the rejection of the tropes commonly seen in perfume ads.
