Langdon turns to a former CDP ally as new planning chief

Katherine Hannah, who followed Ben Langdon to McCann-Erickson from

Collett Dickenson Pearce last year, has been promoted to planning

director.

Currently a senior planner on some of McCanns’ major accounts, including

Cereal Partners, Hannah fills the gap left by Ev Jenkins, who left the

agency in January to become the planning director of Ammirati Puris

Lintas.

Hannah’s appointment follows Langdon’s decision to disperse McCanns’

planning department and put planners in account teams.

Amy Smith, the marketing director of McCanns, said: ’The system works a

lot better but we need somebody to pull it together.’

Hannah, who worked at Bates Dorland before a four-year stint at CDP,

will oversee McCanns’ planning product, and will also be responsible for

briefing the McCann Strategy Group, a collective of consultants which

advises agency clients on strategic communications.

She will also run Neural Networks, a dedicated McCanns unit that

provides clients with forecasting and planning expertise.

’Katherine is very down to earth, has bundles of energy and isn’t the

sort who wants to go off and think alone,’ Smith added. ’She’ll bring a

hands-on approach to the job and bring people together, which is what we

need. She will be the custodian of our thinking product.’

Hannah said: ’There’s an excellent core team of planners at McCanns

which, combined with the McCann Strategy Group and Neural Networks,

provides a strong strategic platform for all our clients.’
