Laser Sales, the ITV sales house, has scooped the contract to

handle UK sales for Ireland’s first independent commercial TV channel,

TV3.

Laser, which picked up the contract without a formal pitch, will take on

the role of sales agent, handling spot advertising, sponsorship and

off-air commercial opportunities for the channel, due to launch in

September.

A dedicated sales unit is being established under Craig Nayman, the head

of Laser Satellite and Cable, with Andy Bagnall taking on the role of

account director.

TV3 will be funded by advertising revenue and will target the 15- to

44-year-old age group, covering 90 per cent of the Irish population.

Rick Hetherington, managing director of TV3, said Laser was chosen for

its ’expertise in airtime sales’.

Mick Desmond, chief executive of Laser, said: ’This is a fantastic

opportunity for UK advertisers to expand.’
