Lastminute.com wins Daily Telegraph award

– Lastminute.com, the website that offers late deals on travel, gifts and entertainment, has won the Best New Business of the Year award in The Daily Telegraph/BT Cellnet Small Business Awards, on the heels of three prizes won at the Revolution awards.

The Daily Telegraph award comes on Lastminute's first day of trading on the stock market following its flotation. Lastminute.com floated at the very top end of its revised range with shares priced at 380p. This gave the internet firm a value of £571.3 million.

However, by noon today its shares had risen to 523.5p valuing the company at £785 million.
