Reporting to Ben Langdon, the UK chairman of Euro RSCG Worldwide, Lauffer will work across all the group's companies spanning above- and below-the-line disciplines. She will identify strengths in specialist areas such as business-to-business, retail and youth marketing.
She will then match these with consumer insight offered by Euro RSCG Worldwide's research offering, Prosumer, which is headed by Marian Salzman in New York.
The combined data will be used to develop new revenue streams for the group, such as consultancy, to help meet Langdon's mission to boost revenues by 50 per cent over the next three years.
Langdon said: "Robin will bring together the existing strengths across the group with the consumer-insight programme and create new specialist areas to help attract new clients to the business."
The move sees Lauffer reunited with Langdon, with whom she worked at McCann. She left the network, where she headed its youth marketing agency, Magic Hat, in August.
Lauffer has been in the UK for five years. She was McCann's group executive planning director between 2000 and 2002. Before that, she was the head of strategic planning.
Before moving to the UK, she was the planning director of TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York and she is a former international planning director of TBWA\Belgium.
She has also worked as the vice-president of creative marketing at the news channel CNN's London operation.
