Between the Lines: All change in medialand

It's been a week of big media scalps being claimed: David Mansfield at GCap (page 7); Mick Desmond at ITV (hot on the heels of news that Graham Duff's off, page 1); Mark Wood at BSkyB (page 8).

Some of these departures reflect the pressures of media-owner management at a time of constrained marketing budgets: some of these jobs have simply become unpalatable.

But there is also a sense of a generational shift. A whole peer group looks in danger of extinction, yet it's hard to imagine the next generation living up to the reputation of their predecessors.
