Excite has secured a six-figure, 12-month sponsorship deal with

Lloyds TSB to run on its home page.

Excite agency sales executive Phil Liptrot liaised with Damien Blackden,

managing partner of Zenith Interactive, to forge the partnership.

Blackden commented: ’It was important for Lloyds TSB to reach the online

audience. We were looking for a high-profile, respected, online brand

and also a prime piece of web real estate. We talked to a number of

people, but Excite presented the best overall offering.’

He added that Zenith and Lloyds wanted the sponsorship initiative to

’enrich users’ experience of the web’. So as well as putting up the

usual banners, Lloyds has become the first sponsor of My Reminder - a

service that can be customised to remind users of birthdays and other

special dates. It will also sponsor the Excite Planner online diary.

Excite Europe vice-president and managing director Evan Rudowski

commented: ’Financial information is one of the most popular services on

the web. This deal gives users access to financial services from one of

the market’s strongest brands.’

Ford Ennals, Lloyds TSB’s director of group marketing, said the deal

reflected the increasing relevance of the net and demonstrated the

bank’s intention to ’be wherever our customers are’.

’The internet winners will be organisations whose web offerings add

value to customers’ lives,’ Ennals added.

1 Why creative people have lost their way

What better way to kick off the inaugural issue of Campaign's monthly print offering than with another think piece on the current failings of our industry, written by an embittered, pretentious creative who misses "the way things used to be"...
